Learn how to lead climb! The rock climbing areas of North Bend and Vantage are perfect venues to learn everything you need to know for sport climbing on a variety of beginner and intermediate routes, as well as advanced routes for those who are ready. The ultimate objective is to give the course participant the necessary skills and judgment to comfortably lead sport routes at their desired level of difficulty.

Lead Sport Rock Climbing Course Curriculum
1. Review of Basic Skills
• Review and refinement of the skills acquired in the Intro to Rock Course
• Belay devices used in different situations (dynamic, high friction, static)
• More knots and hitches
• Escaping a belay
• Transition from top roping to rappelling at the top anchor
2. Multi-Pitch Skills
• Top anchor belays
• Multi-pitch sports climbing
• Station management at the top anchor
• Multi-pitch rappelling in a sport-climbing scenario
• Efficient leading techniques
• Multi-pitch climbing with a team of three
3. Advanced Leading Skills
• Further development of climbing techniques
• Falling on lead
4. Natural Gear
• Introduction to natural gear placement
• Building anchors with natural gear

If booking a domestic trip that is over 30 days away or an international trip that is over 60 days away, you can book your trip by paying a 20% deposit.  View Full Policy
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel for any reason 30 or more days before domestic trips or 60 or more days before international and Alaska trips, we will refund everything you have paid minus half of your deposit. No refunds will be provided if you cancel your trip for ANY REASON (this includes but is not limited to illness including CoVid-19, injury, or work-related issues) within 30 days of the start of domestic trips or 60 days of international and Alaska based trips.  View Full Policy
