Itinerary

The day before the course starts: We will meet in Terre Bonne in the late afternoon, do a quick gear check and proceed to our camping spot in the vicinity of Smith Rock State Park.

Day 1: This day will give us the opportunity to review some basics. We will  cover:

  • Review and refinement of introductory skills
  • Belay devices used in different situations (dynamic, high friction, static)
  • More knots and hitches
  • Escaping a belay
  • Transition from top roping to rappelling at the top anchor

Day 2: It is now time to get a little higher ofj the ground and use our new found skills in a multi pitch scenario. This could happen on super classic moderate routes such as "First Kiss", "Wherever I may roam" or another of all the classic multi pitch routes in the Park.

Day 3: Let's do this again. Transitions, anchor and rope management and efficient climbing take time. There will definitely be enough time to debrief the course over beer before we conclude our Smith Rock Climbing Course.
